Hey all,
So everybody has reached a consensus on date/location for this. It is going to be June 1-3rd at UNCA!
Now. We can take care of logistics, housing, etc here on our end. We need to put together a couple of committees here really quickly. I am putting out a call (more of a plea really) for somebody to take over coordinating everything outside of the logistics of things. Please?! All the emails here are the people who responded to the original call for a second regional convention, so there you have it.
Thanks,
Kati Ketz

A Statement from the International Action Center
Why Virginia Tech shootings happened
April 18, 2007--Yet another rampage has occurred at a school, this time leaving 33 people dead at Virginia Tech—the worst such incident ever at a U.S. college campus.
The news media seem stunned and surprised, yet their coverage sounds so similar to the stories about Columbine eight years ago. They dwell on the personality of the young man the police say did the shooting, before killing himself. They talk about him being a “loner,” depressed, perhaps angry at women.
But aren’t there lonely and depressed people all over the world? Many countries have high suicide rates. Why is it that here some become mass murderers?

In the face of recent moves by Democrats in Congress, the anti-war movement needs to reject both fuzzy timelines and continued funding for the war in Iraq. We need to insist on the demand, "U.S. out now!" Nothing less will do.

Forum / Discussion
UNCC SDS will host an event, "Report Back: A Meeting With the Iraqi Resistance" with Kosta Harlan, antiwar activist and member of Freedom Road Socialist Organization, who recently traveled to Italy to attend the international conference, "With the Resistance, for a Just Peace in the Middle East" ( iraqiresistance.info). The conference marks the first time that leaders of the Iraqi national resistance have been able to speak in the West. Kosta will report back on who the resistance is and why they fight; the current conditions of the U.S. occupation of Iraq; the birth and development of the Iraqi resistance; and the tasks of the U.S. antiwar movement. Q&A to follow.
This event is free and open to the public. Suggested donation $1/$2/$5 - no one turned away.

Well I think have have figured out the way this Drupal content management system works, so I can begin adding content to the website. I read a recent article coming out of Cuba regarding plans to use corn to make fuel ethanol on a large scale. It raises some important questions.
Cuban President Fidel Castro has written an article on ethanol and
